The restoration is a class in craftsmanship, the work involved correction to the veneers; warping, and splittings to its case, with a final gloss finish.
I chose to have it repaired for my daughter’s birthday, this year, it will be an emotional moment to hear it chime after 55 years; a disturbing ‘comfort’ in the night’s silence, as a guardian of time.
The renovation was the co-operation between two experts for mechanism and the case, it will now stand as an antique in pristine condition.
