Edwardian Mahogany Dining Chair

The leg of this Edwardian dining chair had broken at the weakest point (where the side and rear rails meet). This style of chair does not have stretchers or arms that would add strength to the frame. Sometimes the only way to repair such a break is to splice in a new piece of wood to restore the strength of the chair. Mike has spliced in new wood, coloured to match the original and polished.

At the site of the break, a new piece of mahogany has been spliced into the old leg, preserving as much of the original as possible.

The new piece is shaped ready for colour matching and polishing.
