Early Georgian Chest of Drawers

This set of drawers was brought to Mike for restoration. The top was damaged due to atmospheric changes over the years and the veneer had lifted.  Parts of the veneer and cross-banding on the front of the piece were also missing. Mike stripped the piece, repaired the missing veneers and inlays and French polished it. Mike has restored the chest sympathetically – ensuring the original patination, achieved over hundreds of years, has not been lost. Were this to happen, not only would the beauty of the piece be reduced, but it could also drastically devalue it. Note, the drawer handles are not period.

If the colour has been lost on any period piece, Mike is able to restore it to the colour it should be – maintaining the value and often adding to it.
